We Buy Surplus Medium and High Voltage Cable in Iowa

Medium voltage cable is expensive material, and surplus reels are often the largest single line item in a plant's dead stock. A substation project changes scope, a feeder is re-routed, or a mill keeps a spare reel that is now a decade old — and suddenly there is $40,000 of cable under a tarp.

Overview

06

We buy 5 kV, 8 kV, 15 kV, 25 kV, 35 kV and 69 kV+ cable in EPR and XLPE, with concentric neutral, tape shield, drain wire or UniShield constructions. Because the material is high value, the review is more careful: voltage class, insulation type, shield, jacket condition, age and any test data all matter.

Quick quote: the fastest route is a photo of the reel, a photo of the jacket print and the city or ZIP. Call +1 (614) 715-3047 if you would rather talk it through.

What we take

A

Medium and High Voltage Cable we buy

  • 15 kV cable in #2 through 1000 MCM
  • 25 kV and 35 kV feeder cable
  • 69 kV and above cable where documentation exists
  • Concentric-neutral, tape-shield and UniShield constructions
  • Copper and aluminum conductors
  • Full reels, partial reels and factory-sealed lengths

Condition

C

Condition, packaging and what we pass on

We quote what is usable and say plainly what is not.

Documentation raises value. A reel with the factory tag, footage and test report is a different asset from bare cable of unknown history. Age matters too: insulation systems degrade with UV, moisture and handling, so we ask how and where it was stored.

Cable that has been cut, terminated or spliced is reviewed as a shorter usable length or as scrap. We will not pretend a spliced 15 kV run is a factory reel.

Iowa

D

Medium and High Voltage Cable from Iowa businesses

Iowa's utility, wind and industrial base produces medium voltage surplus: municipal utilities, co-ops, ethanol and food plants, cement and aggregate operations, and the wind supply chain around Mason City, Fort Dodge, Storm Lake and Carroll.

Substation and feeder work in the Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Sioux City areas also leaves partial reels. For anything above 15 kV, send the reel tag, the test report if you have it, and a photo of the cable end showing the shield and insulation layers.

Questions

E

Medium and High Voltage Cable: questions sellers ask

Do you buy medium voltage cable without test reports?

Yes, but the offer reflects the missing history. A factory tag with footage and a date is usually enough. Without either, we quote conservatively or pass.

Will you take a partial reel of 15 kV cable?

Yes. Partial medium voltage reels are common and often the most valuable thing in a plant's dead stock. A measured length or a coil diameter plus the reel size lets us estimate the remainder.

Do you buy spliced or terminated cable?

Terminated ends are usually cut back and the remaining length is priced. Spliced cable is judged on the splice; most often it is priced as scrap or as a shorter section.

What photos should I send for medium voltage?

The reel and tag, the jacket print, the cable end showing conductor, insulation and shield, and the storage location. Anything showing water damage or UV cracking is important.

Have reels, spools or cut lengths to move?

Send the wire type, footage and a few photos. We review every request and reply with a quote or a clear no.

Tell us what you have

No obligation and no cost to ask. If the material is not a fit, we will say so plainly.
